askPDF is operated from Rome, Italy. Write to us at [email protected].

askPDF lets you upload PDF documents, ask questions about them and receive AI-generated answers that cite the pages they came from. It works with PDFs that contain text; scanned pages without a text layer are not supported yet. askPDF is in beta, and we may change or remove features as it develops.

You sign in with Kinde, our sign-in provider. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

There are three plans: Free, Plus and Pro. Their prices and limits are in this table, and on the pricing section of the home page, which is always the current version.

The counters for PDF uploads and for questions both reset every 30 days. A limit that is reached stops the next upload or question until the reset, or until you move to a plan with more room. Prices are in euro, and the amount you pay is shown at checkout.

We may change plans, prices and limits. A change to the price of a subscription you already have does not take effect before your next billing period.

• Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe, our payment provider, and renew automatically until you cancel.
• You cancel from the billing page of your dashboard, which opens Stripe’s billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal.
• If you move from Plus to Pro in the app, the difference for the rest of the current period is charged at once, and the full Pro price applies from the next renewal.
• Refunds are handled case-by-case. Write to us at [email protected].
• If a payment fails, we may move your account back to the Free plan.

You agree not to:

• upload anything illegal or malicious, or a document you have no right to upload or share with our AI providers;
• share your account or its sign-in details;
• get around the limits of your plan or the rate limits of the service;
• use scripts, bots or other automation to use the service;
• try to reverse engineer the service, or to reach another person’s data or disrupt the service.

Your documents stay yours. You allow us to store them and to process them, including sending their text to our AI providers, only to run askPDF for you. How your data is handled is in the privacy policy.

Answers are generated by AI from your document. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of context, so check the cited pages before you rely on one. askPDF is not legal, medical, financial or other professional advice.

We work to keep askPDF running, but we do not promise that it will always be available, or free of errors or interruptions.

You can stop at any time. You can delete any document, or your whole account from the menu at the foot of the sidebar (“Delete account”), which also ends a paid plan at once; the unused part of the period is not refunded automatically. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or abuses the service.

To the extent the law allows, askPDF is provided as it is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss that comes from relying on an AI-generated answer. Our total liability to you for all claims is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, for example for fraud, for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury. If you use askPDF as a consumer, nothing here takes away the rights the law gives you.

These terms are governed by Italian law. Disputes go to the courts of Rome, Italy, unless the law gives you the right to go to the courts where you live, as it does to consumers in the European Union.

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and you accept it if you keep using askPDF. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email.
